Outsourced Reflection - #9
Cultures differ from one place to another and it is hard to adapt with easily. Last week I saw a movie about two different cultures; USA and India and about outsourcing from USA. Outsourcing is something easy to do by big companies but it is really hard for other people from other countries because when the company will reach the goal needed they will just shot down and fire everybody.
Todd’s work visit to India was really bad and miserable because it was really hard for him to adapt with their culture. First of all, in the airport he was not happy because he was amazed from the people and how they are dirty. After that, he was invited to auntie Jis house instate of staying in the hotel. He had tough time to learn about their culture because it is completely different. Their clothes, food, and the way of eating because Indians eat with their right hand and use their left in the bathroom. He experienced culture shock really bad because he had to stay and meet the company’s goal. Next, a child stole his phone and ran away. Todd felt really bad because of the bad weather, people, and the work environment. Finally, he met with a girl and felt in love with. He called his mother so that he forget the culture shock. After a couple of days the company met their goal and he had to go back to the US. Todd was really sad that he left India and he will miss the girl he met out there. There a lot of examples from the movie about Hofstede’s laws about high and low power distance and this was when Todd was having his conversation with his boss. Also, feminity when Todd proved it differently and told Aisha to be the future vice president.

Puro discuss how often he visits his family and why he doesn't live with them.
Indians are more attached and close to their families than Americans. They consider the family an important and number one priority in their lives and that explains why they live with their families even if they get older and what their parents mean to them. While in America people mostly move out in a very young age and get caught up in their busy lives away from their parents and they're family and only gather when there's an event such as weddings, Christmas and thanksgiving.
13. Why do they disagree on how a "native" speaks English?
Because of the way Americans pronounce some words with an American accent not proper English, they think it's a matter of different accents which doesn't mean their English is wrong in India at the end it is a matter of correct English

Read the section about Culture and Personality in Anthropology. Answer these questions about that section:-
1. Define “Anthropology” in your own words :
the study of human behaviors and development
2. What do you understand by “socialization of children” Give an example
The environment children are raised in. For example a kid raised in the U.S will interact in a different way from another raised in the U.A.E.
3. Read this sentence again and give examples of childrearing in different societies and cultures: “socialization creates personality patterns. It helps shape people’s emotions, thoughts, behaviors, cultural values and norms to fit into and function as productive members in the surrounding human society. The study of culture and personality demonstrates that different socialization practices such as childrearing in different societies (cultures) result in different personality types.”
If you take a Chinese child and raise it in another country he will interact in manners of the country he was raised in not the Chinese way.
4. Read this sentence again and say to what extent you agree: “all humans are the same when born, but childrearing in different societies causes deviations in behavior and personalities from each other.”
I totally agree with it because children minds when born are the same its shaped differently by the people and the place its taught in.
5. Reflect on the reading above. Can you see a link between your culture and your personality? Think about that in relation to your own culture first, and then think about personality and culture in a different society. Reflect. Give examples.
Yes there is a link between my personality and my culture because whenever I interact I consider my traditions and religion first which will lead to some actions while someone with different culture will take another actions.
